Dougherty, eighty-seven years old, one of the oldest citizens of Bremen, died at his home in Bremen early Wednesday morning. He had been in failing health for several years, but was bedfast only nine days.
Mr. Dougherty was a son of John T. and Sarah (Carbaugh) Dougherty and was born April 27, 1850,, in Wooster, Ohio. On Dec 2, 1883, he was united in marriage with Emily Jane Beckner-Kitch, who died about five months ago. Most of his life was spent on a farm near Bremen. Twenty-one years ago the family moved to the home on East Maple street, where he died.
Surviving relatives are two sons, J. E. Dougherty of Limon, Colorado, and Noah Dougherty of near Bourbon; one daughter, Mrs. Milton Young of Bremen; one brother, Thomas Dougherty of Superior, Wis., and one sister, Mrs. Katie Schmidt of Mason City, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two oclock, Standard Time, at the Church of the Brethren. Rev. C. C. Cripe of Argos, assisted by Rev. John Metzler of Bourbon, pastor of the church, will officiate in the service. Burial will be in the Bremen Cemetery.
