Lute suffered the loss of his legs in a threshing machine accident, where he applied a tourniquet and crawled some distance to get help. He adjusted well, with prosthesis, and was a successful wheat farmer, then oil distributor around Athabasca, AB.

53 yr old Altie Galbraith...of Colinton died yesterday.
Killed instantly as two cars met head on about 20 miles north of Edmonton (was) Mrs Sadie Galbraith. They were passengers in the north bound car driven by (their son) Lute Galbraith.
Also injured with facial cuts was (Sadie's brother) LY Satterlee."
