Gerald E. "Jerry" Blackford, 86, of Marietta, passed away on Saturday (June 4, 2011) at the Arbors of Marietta.

He was born June 16, 1925, at Crooksville, Ohio, a son of Perry and Edna Poland Blackford. He attended school in Crooksville and had various jobs there. He was employed at Marietta Memorial Hospital in security, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Sixth and Washington Street Church of Christ, Marietta Men's Civitan club and collected Coca Cola memorabilia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

On Oct. 12, 1973, Jerry married Lois Graham Blackford, who survives with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jimmy Lee Blackford.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday (June 7) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Roger Rush officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until hour of service. Burial is in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Jerry was a retired security guard from Marietta Memorial Hospital.

His wife Lois is the daughter of George and Ruth Ellen Patterson Graham (Memorial # 86683977), and granddaughter of Philip H. (Memorial# 94353101) and Sena Scott Patterson, all also buried in Eastlawn Cemetery (in Section 1940, in the tombstones section near the far left trees).

Lois' sisters were Mildred and Mary Helen (married James Barr; both of whom also are in Eastlawn.
