Born in 1929 to Harry C. Ankeny Sr. and Mrs. Ruth G. Ankeny of Johnstown, Pa., he graduated Valedictorian at Connumach Township High School in 1948. He furthered his education by acquiring a BS in Civil Engineering and a BS in Industrial Engineering, both from Penn State University.
He served as a 1st Lt. in the Army Corp of Engineers. Later retiring from Monsanto where he worked for 25 years as a Senior Maintenance Service and Energy Manager. He retired from a second career of 13 years from the VA Medical Center in Tuskegee, where he worked as a General Engineer.
Concluding his careers, he worked as a Project Superintendent as a Quality Control Manager on the Restoration of the Alabama National Guard Soldiers Billeting facility.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathryn E. Ankeny; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer A. and Tom Holt, of Va.; son, Harry C. Ankeny III, of Ga.; granddaughter, Emily K. Holt; grandson, Carson T. Ankeny and his step-daughter, Cindie Phipps of Tennessee.
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in Anniston with the Dr. Billy Harris officiating.
