Eula Armistead, 79 Retired bookkeeper
Chowchilla -- Eula Edna Armistead, a resident of Chowchilla for 54 years, died Monday in a Madera hospital. She was 79.
Mrs. Armistead was born Sept. 19, 1916, in Oklahoma. She was a retired bookkeeper for the J. C. Penny Co.
Mrs. Armistead was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 9896 in Chowchilla, Veterans of Foreign Wars National Home, and the Chowchilla Historical Society. She was also a member of Chowchilla Rebekah Lodge No. 327.
Mrs. Armistead is survived by her husband, James Armistead of Chowchilla; a daughter, Retha Hobbs of Seaside; a son, Dewayne Walker if Carson City, Nev.; five sisters, Marie Marinkovich of Harbor City, Ann Gillim and Betty Zecellich, both of Madera, Ives Jay of Modesto and Trudy Rose of Klamath Falls, Ore.; a brother, C. B. Lewis of Mexico; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation is Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Worden Funeral Chapel in Chowchilla.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Sabin of Cathedral of Faith Church officiating. Burial will be in the Chowchilla District Cemetery.
