Isaac Ely Herington, IV, was the son of Samuel Clark Herington (1857-1921) and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Swink) Herington (1868-1938), both of whom were born and died in Macon County, Missouri.

There were 4 known people in the Herington family named Isaac Ely Herington. This writer has numbered them as Sr., Jr., III, and IV, according to the order of their birthdates. This does not mean these men went by these numbers/titles. I am just using it for clarification purposes.

Isaac's grandfather was Isaac Ely Herington, Sr. (1819-1901). Isaac's uncle (his father's brother) was Isaac Ely "Dike" Herington, Jr. (1852-1991). And, Isaac's uncle Joshua Herington had a son who was Isaac Ely Herington III (1894-1954).

Isaac had the following siblings:

Bertha Herington 1893 – 1974
Jessie James Herington 1893 – 1981
Hugh E. "Red" Herington 1897 – 1992
Theodore M. "Thead" Herington 1900 – 1962
Pearl Ellis "Peevine" Herington 1906 – 1971
Lloyd J. "Boliver" "Jack" Herington 1908 – 1963

On April 15, 1927 in Bucklin, Linn County, Missouri, Isaac married Opal Belle Hensley. They had the following known children:

Mary L Herington 1928 –
Donald Lee Herington 1930 – 1981
James Franklin Herington 1936 – 1973

In 1930, the family was living in Taft, Kern County, California.

The family at some point moved back to Missouri. Isaac died in 1956 and Opal in 1986. Both are buried in La Plata Cemetery.

- Information gathered by Blytha Ellis. My husband Donald Ellis is a relative of Heringtons. His great grandmother Christian Eleanor (Herington) Gentry was a sister to Samuel Clark Herington.
