Birth: 1495

Norfolk, England
Death: Aug. 19, 1531
City of Norwich
Norfolk, England

Bilney was educated at Cambridge taking holy orders in 1519 he read "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am the chief." "Immediately", he records, "I felt a marvellous comfort and quietness, insomuch that my bruised bones lept for joy, Psal. 51:8. After this, the Scripture began to be more pleasant unto me than the honey or the honeycomb; wherein I learned that all my labours, my fasting and watching, all the redemption of masses and pardons, being done without truth in Christ, who alone saveth his people from their sins; these I say, I learned to be nothing else but even, as St. Augustine saith, a hasty and swift running out of the right way"
He influenced Hugh Latimer. Bilney denounced the mediation of saints and reic veneration. Cardinal Wolsey was instrumental in his imprisonment in the Tower of London for over a year. After a short release he was again arrested. He was burned at the stake at Lollard's Pit Norwich .

From the rising of the sun even unto it's setting my name shall be great among the nations; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure oblation:for my name shall be great among the nations, saith Jehovah of hosts. Malachi 1 v11
