A right scoundrel went to jail: for bigamy, forgery and once for molesting his eldest daughter. In court he claimed it was okay because she was NOT his daughter. BUT she was under 16, so made it rape anyway. He got 10 years (the maximum allowed) for that one.

He was a liar with many aliases, so any of these might work: Perry, Carl, Carlton
From SS# 515 09 4504 on his death certificate: (a fake, as it does not link to any known name he used).
He is not found on SS Death list.

Perry Carlton NEWTON was the youngest of 6 children born to Periander and Julia (Donahue) NEWTON. His father died when young Perry was nine years old. After that, the boy lived pretty much without any limiting influence.
He and Mabel Carr had a fling which resulted in the birth of their daughter, Aileen. After his marriage to Mabel CARR in Feb 1913, Julia was born. Then came Susan in 1915. After that, Perry left the family to go work in the Oklahoma oil fields.
When WWI came along, Perry enlisted. He was however either discharged or tossed into the brig in Kansas because two women applied for spousal support, showing marriage certificates.
He returned to his 'real' wife, Mabel, in 1920 and a 4th daughter, Ettamae, was born in 1921 followed by a son, Robert Henry born in 1923 or 24 place unknown. By this time the family were living out of their car, tent camping through California.
Perry made their living by conning people out of money. Oldest daughter, Aileen, wrote, "Many a night we would pack up the car with our belongings, lay the sleeping youngest children on top of the possessions and push the car silently out of town. When we got to a new place, we would have a different last name. This happened so often that I began to get confused about which name I was supposed to be using."
In 1925, Perry's second son, John Carlton, was born, and by January of 1930 they had Kenneth Paul (later adopted by Mabel's brother, Harold CARR, and wife). The family was residing in Santa Barbara, CA at the time.
Mabel died as a result of this birth in February. This is when Aileen decided she had to bring charges against her father. She knew that if she left home, he would begin molesting the younger girls in the household.

On May 28 1930 he pled not guilty. Trial was set for June 6 1930. He lived at 503 W. Anapamu St.

There was this in the newspaper on July 3 1930:
"Jury declares Newton Guilty Imprisonment for 10 years urges in verdict returned to judge

"After deliberating several hours the jury considering testimony in the case against Carlton Newton, charged with a statutory offense against his daughter, returned a verdict of guilty on two counts at 9 o'clock last night.

"The hearing lasted two days, opening on Tuesday. At 5 o'clock last night the case was given to the jury, following District Attorney Clarence C. Ward's final argument.

"Taking exception to the rule, the jury last night wrote into its verdict the recommendation that the sentence be imprisonment of 10 years. Attorneys for the defendant objected to this on the grounds that the jury had overstepped its jurisdiction in the recommendation. The court overruled the objection.

"Newton's daughters, age 14 and 17, were the prosecution's principal witnesses. Sentence will be pronounced on July 7. The newspaper for the 8th didn't have anything on the sentencing...
