Orene Cooper
Orene Cooper, 94, of Burnt Hickory Road, Cartersville, went home to be with our Lord Thursday, December 30, 2010.
Mrs. Cooper was born January 20, 1916 in Bartow County, a daughter of the late William Downey Holmes and Fannie Moore Holmes.
She was the oldest member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Shaw Industries. Mrs. Cooper was a blessing to all who knew her. She loved to cook, go to church and work in the yard.
Preceded in death by her husband, Louie Houston Cooper, she is survived by one daughter, Mary Hogue, of Cartersville, one son, Jimmy Cooper, of Cartersville, 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 25 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two children, Betty Young and Hugh Cooper.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 3, 2011, from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Shook, Rev. Darrell Bailey and Rev. Bennie Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Wyatt, Timmy Campbell, Tyrone Cooper, Ricky Cooper, Greg Cooper and Ronald Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Poole, Dennis Wyatt, Justin Cooper and Cliff Messer.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 till 7:00 P.M.
