Birth: Oct. 16, 1859
South Carolina, USA
Death: Oct. 4, 1896
Florence County
South Carolina, USA

Mary Ella Bass married Henry Lily Covington Dec 1881 They had 7 children. Her father was a prominent physician in South
Carolina. One of her sons was my grandfather,Thomas Bass Covington. It appears she died of childbirth in 1896 and her baby also died when he was only 6 months old. I honor the Bass Family and wish I had known them. Mary Ella Bass has of indian heritage from Jamestown and the Bass's were originally from England. My 7th great grandfather John Bass was married to Keziah Tucker, the child of The King of Namsemond tribe of indians. The Namsemond tribe remains today as one of the remaining tribes of the Powhatan Empire and was officially recognized as a tribe by the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1984. All Namemond indians are ancestors of John Bass and Keziah Tucker. I take pride in her Indian Heritage. The Bass Family lived in Jamestown, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Hopkinsville, Ky, and Florida.

I am so glad I found you. If I had not started this journey I would never know you are my great grandmother. I don't believe my mother ever knew the truth. RIP my ggrandmother. I love you

I only found you a few years ago. I feel like we are connected. You died when my grandfather was so young. I actually thought that Henry Lilys second wife was my biological ggrandmother. How special it is to find you.
