Mary was first married to Andrew Jackson Shaffer in 1880, son of David Lee Shaver/Shaffer and Naomi Jarvis.

Second marriage was to Joseph Cook about 1889.

Third marriage was to Daniel W. Harpold between 1890 & 1900.

Mary Elizabeth Harpold, 68, died at the family home, 1209 -Third avenue, yesterday, survived by her husband Daniel Harpold, one son Charles Shaffer, and one daughter, Mrs. Mamie Berry. Mrs. Harpold also leaves four brothers, Robert Ray, Charles Ray, William Ray, all of Charleston, and Andrew Ray, of Little Sandy; three sisters, Mrs. Chester England, Mrs. Ella Bonnett, both of Raymond City, and Mrs. Emma Reed, of Sissonville. Burial will be in Spring Hill cemetery.
