Edward Rooney, 93, one of the last remaining pioneer members of the Rooney family in Brown County. died at his home in Fairview, May 3, 1947. Funeral services were Tuesday, May 6, at Fidelity. Burial was in the Sabetha Cemetery. Mr. Rooney was the son of the late Patrick Rooney, Rosanna livings, was born in Kilkeel, Ireland, December 254, 1853. The family came to Galesburg, Illionois, in the spring of 1856, where they lived two years, thence traveling by boat to Leavnworth, Kansas, where they resided 10 years. They moved in 1868 to a farm in the Fidelity neighborhood near Fairview. He was the oldest resident of Fairview, had lived in Brown County 78 years. The surviving chilren are Chester G Rooney, Mineola Kansas,; Harry P. Rooney, Santana, Kansas; Mrs. Nelliw Tiller, Wichita, Kansas; Orlie E. Rooney, Kansas City, Missouri. There are 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren. One sister also survives him, Mrs. Ann Miebach, of Los Angeles, California, two brothers, W.T. Rooney, of Haddam, Kansas, G.B. Rooney of Fairview Kansas; and Ed Cand harles Rooney, prominent Topeka attorneys, are nephews.
