Elizabeth McKinstrey was killed by a household slave named Bristo, who believed by killing a member of the McKinstrey family, he would gain his freedom. He hit her in the head with an iron, threw her down the stairs than he finisher her off with an ax. He then threw the body in the fireplace and fled to Newport, Rhode Island. He was caught and returned to Taunton, Massachusetts for trial, found guilty and hanged on December 1, 1763.

I am not sure of the note that Elizabeth McKinstrey is the sister of Dr. William McKinstrey because in reading the tombstone inscription, there is a clear "Mrs" attached to her name making her Mrs. Elizabeth McKinstrey. If her maiden name was McKinstrey, and she married a man with the same last name, that would be rare and interesting information. Thank you. Marlep13 (#48339058)
