Andrew Pierson -- Obituary
Andrew Pierson, one of Pottawatomie County's oldest citizens, died November 15, 1955 at the home of his daughter in Kansas City. Had he lived until January 22, he would have been 100 years of age.

He was born in Sweden and in his youth was confirmed in the Lutheran church. At the time of his death he was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wheaton.

While a young man he came to the United States and settled as a farmer in Kansas. He felt a deep loyalty to his adopted country and became a naturalized citizen as soon as it became possible for him to do so. He was married to Amanda Teglund who preceded him in death in October, 1944, after 50 years of marriage.

He had been in failing health for several years and for the past year, because his body was weak and tired, he had remained in bed. During all this time he made his home with his daughter Mrs. Blanche Jackson. who has nursed him with loving and tender care. He was very appreciative of the care and attention given him and cooperated in every way that his physical strength would allow. He went to sleep peacefully at 5 o'clock Tuesday, shortly after his daughter had fed him his evening meal.

He is survived by four children. Mrs. Blanche Jackson of Kansas City. Mrs. Edith Kerr of Denver. Walter Pierson of Wheaton and Albert Pierson of Valley Falls. Three children, Arthur, Alma and Evelyn preceded him in death. Ten grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 18 at 2:00 P.M. in St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Wheaton, with the Rev. H. A. Middendorf in charge of the service. Pall bearers were six of his friends and neighbors. John Dalton, William Bruke, Frank Harter, Arthur Toothaker, Jesse Lee and Henry Roach. He was laid to rest in the Wheaton Cemetery beside his wife and other loved ones.
