Lila Belle Millard was born February 20, 1892 in Hersey Village, Osceola, Michigan to Herbert Alton Millard & Lydia Leone Gass. Lila Belle grew up in Hersey Village and attended Michigan State University where she received a teaching degree.
On November 27, 1919 at the home of her parents she married Frank Lewis Porter of Evart, Osceola, Michigan. He was the son of Herbert Porter & Jane Elizabeth Hall, immigrants in 1888 from England. Belle & Frank Porter produced three children: (1) Herbert Harding Porter, born Nov 2, 1920 Hersey, Mi, died Mar 23, 1997 Coleman, Mi (2) Marjory Jane Porter, b. Feb 18, 1923, Marion, MI, d. Sept 2, 2007 McBain, Mi. (3) Mildred Belle Porter b. Aug 18, 1926, Hersey, Mi., d. Sept 21, 2003 Manistique, Schoolcraft, Mi.
Belle became ill with Leukemia and died at the age of 36.
