Hendrik Boden, son of Barend Boden and Maaike Schakel, married on 18 January 1866 in his birthplace Noordeloos, a country village in the southeastern part of the Dutch southwestern province Zuid-Holland, to the also 23 years aged Elizabeth de Jong, born in Noordeloos too, daughter of Floris de Jong and Geertje van Karsen.
On 7 May 1866 the 23 years aged laborer Hendrike Bode and the also 23 years aged female servant Bode (her given name is not mentioned) arrived at the port of New York on the SS Pennsylvania, which departed on 24 April 1866 from Liverpool. They settled at first in the Dutch truck farmers settlement South Holland, Cook County, Illinois, just south of Chicago.
In 1880 Henry Bode (38, born in the Netherlands, farmer), his wife Elizabeth (37, Netherlands), their children Gertie Bode (9, Illinois), Miky (8, Illinois), Maggie (5, Illinois) and Byron [Bernard] (1, Illinois) lived in Thornton [Township], just south of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. They had in 1882 a son called Floris.
His wife Elizabet died in January 1897 at the age of almost 31 years, very probably in or around South Holland, Thornton Township, Cook County, Illinois.
In 1910 Hendrick Bode (67, widower), his sons Bernhard (30), Floris (28, Illinois) and his brother-in-law Claus Dejoung (66, Holland) lived in Thornton [Township], Cook County, Illinois.
In 1920 Homdrick [!] Bode (77), his sons Bernard (41), Floris (40) and his daughter-in-law Gertie Bode (17, Illinois) lived at an own home, still in Thornton [Township], Cook County, Illinois.
Hendrik Bode died in March 1928 at the age of 85 years, very probably in or around South Holland, Thornton Township, Cook County, Illinois.
