Enlisted, Oct. 15, 1915, in Troop A, Squadron A Cavalry, in New York City. Mustered-in for Mexican border service with Troop A, Squadron A on June 30, 1916. Squadron A was stationed at Camp McAllen, Texas, with the New York Division. He returned with Troop A, Squadron A Cavalry, to New York City, Dec 23, 1916 and mustered-out of border service, Dec. 28, 1916.

World War 1,transferred as a cadet, Oct. 31, 1917, to the Aviation Section, Signal Corps school, at Wilbur Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio. Killed in a flying accident, May 1, 1918.
