Raymond John Mueller was born October 8, 1912 in Chicago, IL. He was the son of John L. Mueller and Elizabeth C. Buechler. As a young man Raymond worked for Cuneo Press where his grandfather Anton Buechler worked and where he met his future bride, Marian Moran.

He enlisted in the United States Army on May 5, 1942, 5 months after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. While still in basic training at Fort Knox in Kentucky, on July 18, 1942, he married Marian Regina Moran, daughter of Patrick John (PJ) Moran and Mary Cecilia (Mae) Hett. He was sent overseas on July 28, 1943 and was in Paris, France during the final days of World War II and spoke of being devastated seeing the refugees from the concentration camps. Raymond and Marian had two children, the first born during the war.

After the war Ray became a very successful commercial photographer. He was also an extra in the movie "North by Northwest" with Gregory Peck and Excessive Force with Thomas Ian Griffith. He also liked to write letters to the editor, and his timely and succinct opinions were published many times in the Chicago Tribune.

He was one of the most friendly, kind, generous, patient and loving men, always willing to lend a helping hand. He was very devoted to this wife and children and his extended family. His passion was playing golf and after retiring he enjoyed playing whenever he could; he also got a charge out of visiting with fellow customers at the local coffee shop. One of the greatest joys of his life was his granddaughter, whom he was blessed to have been able to walk down the aisle when she married.

At 85 years of age, after a wonderful day playing golf and attending mass, on Saturday, November 1, 1997, Raymond became ill and was rushed to the emergency room. He passed away that evening. Everyone who knew him was devastated. His wake and funeral were held on November 5 (his God daughter's birthday). He is buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL and a piece of his soul remains in the hearts of his loved ones.
