Funeral services for Army Green Beret Sgt. David D. Long, Jr., 19, who was killed in an apparent holdup in Fayetteville, N.C., will be at 10:30am Thursday in the Maplewood Baptist Church, 7303 Marietta ave., Maplewood. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Long's body was found early Saturday, Nov. 14, 1970, near the downtown area of Fayetteville, near Ft. Bragg, where he had been stationed nearly a year. He had been shot once in the back and twice in the chest, and the pockets of his clothing had been turned inside out.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. David D. Long of 7350 Marietta ave."
