William grew up in Athertonville. He learned to play the piano at a young age and eventually became an excellent concert pianist. He owned a Steinway grand piano that he was very proud of. After his death, the piano was shipped from Bartlesville to Louisville, KY. The Steinway had an honored place in the home of a nephew that he willed it to, who also was a musician. William once served in the U.S. Navy. The latter half of his life was spent living in the Tulsa, Bartlesville, Oklahoma area. He never married. He rests near the graves of 2 of his sisters and one nephew.
