Louise Pearl (Welsh) Birr, age 91, of rural Good Thunder, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Autumn Grace in Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Good Thunder with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr., officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Lyra Cemetery, Good Thunder. Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice.

Louise Birr was born August 23, 1926 to Vesta and Gertie (Mooday) Welsh in Cumberland, Co., IL. In 1935 they moved to Good Thunder, MN. After graduating from Good Thunder High School she moved to Mankato where she lived until she married Walter L. Birr on March 29, 1948. She was a dairy farmer’s wife. Louise was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was very active with the Ladies Aid and LWML, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and leading Bible Study. She was also active with the PTA, PTL, and was a 4-H leader for 18 years. She was an active Home Extension member and a Betty Crocker Test Kitchen, recipe tester. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and needlepoint for the family. She loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Louise is survived by her four children, Steve (Melissa) Birr of Easton, Kathy (Curt) Hanson and Mark (Linda) Birr all of Good Thunder, Julie (Lee) Marvin of Princeton; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Marion Birr of River Falls, WI; many nieces and nephews.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter, March 25, 2015; and many extended family.
