The Sebastopol native was born on Jan. 30, 1935, to James and Esther Johnson Abeel. Jim began a 32-year career with PG&E in San Francisco before transferring to the Napa office, from which he retired in the early 1990s. He traveled extensively with his trailer and was a member of the Sierra Ramblers Group and the Good Sam Club.
Survivors include his wife, Sharron; children, Bradley Glass, Curtis Glass, Cyndi Mitchell, Brenda Gee, Deborah Bemis, David Abeel and Sandi Henson; 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as brothers, Layne and Terry Abeel, and their families.
Private arrangements were cared for by Treadway & Wigger. Contributions in Jim's memory to Hospice of Napa Valley (414 South Jefferson St., Napa, CA 94559) have been suggested by the family.
