Mrs. Rosetta Hunt Byington, 97, former resident of Moreland and Blackfoot, died Tuesday of causes incident to age at a Lava Hot Springs rest home, where she had resided the past few years.

Mrs. Byington was born 7 Feb 1866 at Huntsville, Utah, to Hyrum and Emily Knowles Hunt. She came to Idaho while a young girl and lived with her grandparents in Swan Valley and at Downey.

She was married 10 Jun 1882 to Joseph Henry Byington at Arimo. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on 10Dec 1890.

The couple homesteaded near Howe for two years, when they returned to Downey and later to Lava Hot Springs, where they lived until Mr. Byington's death in 1929. Mrs. Byington later moved to Blackfoot to be near her children. She served as nurse and midwife, for area people for many years; she was a member of the Moreland 2nd LDS Ward Relief Society and was active in politics.

Survivors include four of 13 children, one son, Lawrence Byington, Bishop, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Pearl Thompson, Porterville, Calif.; Ruby Daniels, Lakewood, Calif; and Mrs. Jewell Schnurr, Long Beach, Calif, 35 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren, and nearly 100 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Moreland LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Dean E. Wheeler, conducting.

Friends may call at the Howard Packham Mortuary Friday and at the church one hour prior to service time Saturday.
