DEATH OF JOSEPH FRITCHIE
Joseph Fritchie was born April 19, 1878 at Smithfield, Illinois, the second son of Karl and Anna Fritchie.
He moved with his parents to Nebraska in 1882, locating northeast of Alexandria and about 3 years later moving to the home place 4 miles north and 1 mile east of Alexandria, where he grew up to manhood.
He passed away at the home of his daughter in Kansas City after a few days illness, at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 3 days.
He was married to Hattie L. DeRidder on July 22, 1903. To this union two children were born: Calvin D. Fritchie of Bushton, Kansas, and Mrs. Viva N. Goin of 826 Sandusky Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife, Hattie, two children, two grandsons, Daryl D. Fritchie and Philip D. Goin, seven brothers and four sisters: Charles, Albert, and Harry of Lincoln, Nebraska, John of Meridian, Idaho, Frank of Alexandria, Nebraska, Henry of Fairbury, Nebraska, and Will, address unknown since 1918, Mrs. Anna Swenson, Mrs., Elizabeth Cunningham, Mrs. Kathryn Russell of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mrs. Clara Leopold of Marysville, Kansas, a host of other relatives and friends.
Reared in the Lutheran Faith, a member of the Woodman Lodge, he had been a faithful employee of the St. Joseph & Grand Island Railroad for 39 years, retiring on pension May 31, 1943.
He was an affectionate husband, a kind and loving father and liked by all who knew him.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gilbert Gustafson at the Alexandria Presbyterian church, Sunday afternoon and internment in the Alexandria cemetery.
