Emma Darlene Bigsby, 77, of Quincy died Thursday, July 9, 2009, in Blessing Hospital. She was born Aug. 10, 1931 in Hadley Township, the daughter of Harry and Nellie Ely Sittler. April 14, 1979 she married William Bigsby in Bushnell.

Survivors in addition to her husband include a daughter, Vickie Kay Armstrong and her husband Ken of Pleasant Hill; two grandsons, Scott Armstrong of Carbondale and Brian Armstrong of Quincy; three sisters, Norma McGee of Virginia and Ruby Young and Anna Beth Moore, both of Hemett, Calif.; a brother, George Sittler and his wife Faye of Avon; a step-son, Bill E. Bigsby and his wife, Darcy, of Quincy, and a step-daughter, Shelby Emele of San Diego, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews, step-nieces, step-nephews, and step-grandchildren.

She was employed for 30 years at the Brown Shoe Company in Pittsfield. After the Shoe factory closed, she and William moved to Bushnell where she started her own cleaning service. They moved to Quincy in the early 1990's where she worked for I.S.S. for five years until her retirement. She was a member of Akers Chapel. She enjoyed crocheting, and made afghans for Maysville Bluegrass Auctions. She loved Bluegrass music and enjoyed attending music festivals.

Services were entrusted to Hansen-Spears Funeral Home of Quincy, Illinois.
