Foxborough - John P Doona, loving husband of Rosemary Aiello Doona passed away surrounded in the love of his family on December 30, 2015 after a brief illness. Dear son of the late James and Katherine Cahalane Doona of Ireland.

Loving father of Debbie and recently deceased Michael Scott of Attleboro, Rose Baker of Uxbridge and Don Baker of North Attleboro, Ginny and husband Steve Connors of Nashua and Sandra Doona and partner Dan Carr of Portland. Brother of Mary Ellen Doona of Foxboro, Ann Higgins of Barnstable, the late James Doona of Forest Hills and the late Katherine Doona of Foxboro. Brother in law of Helen Doona of Newton, the late Edward Higgins, Joanne and John Morelli of Bellingham and Virginia and Joseph McDonald of Norton. Loving grandfather of James and Kristina, Alexander, Anastasia and Justin, Melissa and David, Samantha and Jonathan and adoring great-grandfather of Jordan and Zander, Gerard and Lexi. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues. He was also the brother of the late Katherine "Kay" Doona of foxboro

John's greatest passion was his wife Rose of 56 years with whom he moved to Foxboro and began their family. He was the original 'Jack' of all trades; his home and surroundings reflected his talents. He was a master gardener who shared this talent with others. John enjoyed time spent entertaining his many family members and friends. John had a deep sense of loyalty and gave of himself to any family member and friend.

John grew up in Forest Hills and graduated Boston Teachers College. He was an advocate for public education and taught for 33 years for the Town of Dedham. He was one of the greatest storytellers and could hold the attention of students, family or any gathering. John's wit and wisdom was what set him apart and he always joked about all the girls in his household and the need for a sense of humor. He was well read and a deep thinker who sparked interesting thoughts in others.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 58 Carpenter Street, Foxborough. Interment to follow at St Mary's Cemetery, Foxborough MA.
