Jim Derrick was son of Fleming Van Buren & his wife, Sydney Taylor (Millholland) Derrick. His father, Fleming, was a veteran of the Confederate States Army.


JEFFERSON JACKSON DERRICK (1818-1867 - was Private in Confederate States Army, Texas Reserve State Troops
THERESA DEVANEY (1819-1842) - was daughter of James Devaney and his wife, Bridgett Light.

SIMON DERRICK (1770-1867) - Lee Cemetery in Roxton, TX, has a memorial for Simon who fought in the war of 1812 and was also a son of the Republic of Texas.
LYDIA TIPTON (1789-1836) - daughter of Shadrack Tipton and his wife, Sarah.


LEVI MILLHOLLAND (1819-1872) - was Wagon Captain on wagon train from Missouri to California.
SARAH JANE LINDLEY (1823-1859) - Sarah's great grandfather was Thomas Lindley who's land the Battle of Lindley's Mill was fought on during the American Revolution.

ALSEY RUTH GIBSON (1785-1855) - daughter of John Gibson and wife, Judith Hogg. Judith's father was Gideon Hogg, Revolutionary War Patriot.


Jim married Annie Louraine Ogg, daughter of James A. & Elizabeth 'Eliza' (Heflin) Ogg, on 10 July 1887.
