Mr. Cawthon was preceded in death by his son, Harry L. Cawthon Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Shirley M. Cawthon; a daughter, Vicky Cawthon Higgins, and her husband, Mark, of Newport News; two brothers, James V. Cawthon Jr. and Raymond Carson, both of Newport News; and four grandchildren, Ashley and Greer Cawthon, and Brooke and Kristin Cawthon, all of Newport News.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Weymouth Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, in Peninsula Memorial Park by Clarence Hilling.
