Albert married Sarah Jane Eckerson and lived on Pleasant Avenue in Upper Saddle River, then called Saddle River and in 1901 they moved to 59 East Allendale Rd. in Saddle River where he built his new home. He worked for awhile with John DeBaun in his market on the corner of East Allendale and West Saddle River Roads. He left him in 1906 to start his own traveling meat market business and built a little butcher shop in his front yard. When DeBaun’s building burned down - for the second time - DeBaun was so discouraged he went to work in NYC. Albert bought the corner property which was owned by John Berdan and built his own meat market store, replacing DeBaun's. He moved the little building down from his front yard to the rear of the new property where he used it as storage and also as a place to sell feed from. He began to go blind from glaucoma and his son - in - law, Abram Forshay, bought the business from him and owned it until the late 1940’s. The store remained a delicatessen and meat market until the mid 1990’s.
