DEATH OF ABRAHAM EIKLEBERRY
Abraham Eikleberry, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of this community, was claimed by death at his home Friday, February 24, 1922. Being born on February 15 1842, he was 80 years and 9 days old.
He was born, reared lived and died at the same home.
In his early manhood he united with the Church of Christ at West Union and lived a faithful consistent member all through his life.
On April 17 1866, he was united in marriage with Sarah A Goudy. Six children cam to bless the home, all of whom are living, except one son who passed away several years ago. He leaves to mourn; his wife, who was 77 years old February 26th this being the day of Mr Eikleberry's funeral; two daughters, Mrs James Eddy of Woodsfield and Mrs Olive Maffett of Paden City, WV.; three sons, John and Micajah of Sardis, Ohio, Route 1 and James at home; also 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Junior Feiock and Charles Eddy; besides a host of other relatives and friends.
He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good friend and neighbor. His faults were few; a noble Christian worthy of imitation. His death was due to infirmities of old age. Funeral services were held at West Union Sunday, February 26th conducted by Elder W H Thompson and were largely attended.
The grandchildren of the deceased acted as pallbearers.
