Bill L. Berry, 83, resident of Ponca City, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012, at his home.

A graveside service will be held at McGuire Cemetery in Lucien, Okla. on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Shorty Wells, Cousin of the family, will be officiating. The family will greet friends on Wed. evening from 5-7 p.m. at Trout Funeral Home, 505 W. Grand Ave.

Billy Lon Berry was born on April 13, 1929 to Robert Lon and Leota Irene (Newman) Berry in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Bill joined the United States Air Force from 1946 through 1949. He graduated from high school upon his return. He earned a World War II Victory Medal and proudly served our country.

Bill married Peggy Ruth Wells on October 8, 1949 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Shortly after getting married, the couple moved to Mulvane, Kansas where Bill worked for Boeing Aircraft. He then enrolled at Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa. After living in Tulsa for a short time, Bill and Peggy moved back to Ponca City where he began working for Continental Oil Company. They then lived in Garber before settling on their retirement home on Grand Lake. They enjoyed 27 years living in their lake home before coming back home to Ponca City in 2006.

Bill enjoyed playing the guitar, clarinet and piano. He also liked fishing, working in the yard, gardening and most importantly, spending time with his family. He and Peggy were blessed with 63 years of marriage. Bill is greatly loved and will be missed in the lives of many.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Berry of the home; two sons, Bill Berry and his wife, Tricia of Garber, Oklahoma, Steve Berry and his wife, Remona of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two daughters Linda DelTorto and her husband David of Marietta, Oklahoma, Chyrl Gillespie and her husband, Joe of Ponca City, Oklahoma; nine grand children, Kristy, Angie, Tish, Anthony, Chris, Crystal, Meracle, Kaylee, and Hope; 18 great-grand children; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister-in-law, Donetta Berry of Derby, Kansas; two nephews, Jerry Berry and his wife Connie and Don Berry;

Preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Casketbearers will be Bill Berry, Steve Berry, Joe Gillespie, Anthony Berry, Chris DelTorto, and David DelTorto.
