Michele "Shelly" Lynn Culbertson died suddenly, entering into the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday evening, November 16, 2007. Although the timing was unexpected and sudden, her relationship with Christ was longstanding and secure. She fully knew "that to live is Christ and to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21).

Shelly was born on April 22, 1962 to Robert "Bob" and Carolee Hall. Shelly graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1980. She attended Stephen F. Austin University and graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education.

She met her husband, Gene, after her college years and they married in 1986. they made their home in Plano, Texas, where they raised their family. Shelly was a faithful member of Prairie Creek Baptist Church, attending since her youth. Shelly and her family continued to be an integral part of Prairie Creek throughout her life.

Shelly was a teacher, who taught middle school and elementary school students in the McKinney, Garland and Allen school districts for over 20 years. For the last three years she taught at Anderson Elementary School in Allen.

Shelly devoted her life to the Lord, her family, teaching her students and everyone else around her. She was a devoted wife who cherished her marriage with her husband. She was a deeply loving mother who was quite active and deeply involved in her children's lives. She was a good friend, who always knew what to say when responding in love and wisdom to their needs.

She was the person you could count on to step in when you needed a helping hand, always working in the background to ensure everything was organized and running smoothly. She was a teacher who cared deeply about her students and wanted to make a difference in their lives.

Shelly was a woman who loved God and showed His love through her life. She desired every person to experience the living hope and eternal assurance that she had received through Jesus Christ.

Shelly is missed by all who knew and loved her, including her husband, Gene; her children, Jacob, Rachel and Benjamin; her mom and dad, Bob and Carolee Hall; her brother and his wife, Dan and Felicia Hall; her mother-in-law, Ann Culbertson; her sisters-in-law and families; and her four nieces and nephew.

In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to her children's college funds by making checks payable and sending them to: Culbertson Education Account, 1926 Silver Street, Suite E, Garland, Texas 75042.
