Mary Lou Simonek, 75, died on Saturday, February 26, 2011, in Haltom City, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 3, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Stanton with Rev. Bob Porterfield, pastor of West Kentucky Baptist Church in Midland, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery of Stanton, Texas.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.

Mary Lou Simonek was born on August 18, 1935, in Colorado City, Texas and married Louis Simonek on February 3, 1952 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2006.

Mary Lou was a stay-at-mom and raised 5 children. She cleaned houses and worked as a waitress to help supplement family finances. After the children were raised and had moved out the home, she began working as a secretary for Midland Glass and Mirror. Upon retirement, Mary Lou built a green house and grew plants as a hobby.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Ann and Rickey Whitaker of Haltom City; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kim Simonek of Lewisville and Kenneth Wayne Simonek of Dallas; a daughter-in-law, Jill Franklin of Austin; three sister-in-laws, Lydia Fisher of Lubbock, Porky Corich of Odessa and Millie and Bob Basset of Lubbock; one brother -in-law, Jerry and Sharon Simonek of Waco; eight grandchildren, Gena, Michelle, Elizabeth, Emily, Janis, Jason, Nathan, and Nicky; and 22 great grandchildren.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Sonny, and her twin sons, Ronald and Donald.
