Born on November 7, 1864 to George and Magdalene Bohl Leonhardt of Chatfield, she spent her entire life in this community with the exception of a few years following her marriage to Jacob T. Shafer.
Survivors in addition to Mrs. Steensen include the following children, Mrs. Edward Eicholz of Attica; Albert Shafer of Chatfield; Mrs. Fred Schimpf, Mrs. D.F. Kirgis of Lykens and Mrs. Edward Schnarrenberger of Sulphur Springs; a brother, Fred Leonhardt of Bucyrus, a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Brown of Columbus, 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Kirgis home at 2 p.m. Monday with continued services at 2:30 o'clock at the Chatfield Lutheran church. Rev. Paul Dornbirer will officiate and burial will be made in Windfall cemetery.
