CHATFIELD, Aug. 1-Mrs. Caroline Leonhardt Shafer, 77, died this morning at 3 o'clock from a heart attack at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Glen Steensen of Latchie, O., where she had been visiting. She had been in ill health for the last two years.

Born on November 7, 1864 to George and Magdalene Bohl Leonhardt of Chatfield, she spent her entire life in this community with the exception of a few years following her marriage to Jacob T. Shafer.

Survivors in addition to Mrs. Steensen include the following children, Mrs. Edward Eicholz of Attica; Albert Shafer of Chatfield; Mrs. Fred Schimpf, Mrs. D.F. Kirgis of Lykens and Mrs. Edward Schnarrenberger of Sulphur Springs; a brother, Fred Leonhardt of Bucyrus, a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Brown of Columbus, 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Kirgis home at 2 p.m. Monday with continued services at 2:30 o'clock at the Chatfield Lutheran church. Rev. Paul Dornbirer will officiate and burial will be made in Windfall cemetery.
