Benjamin Franklin McPherson Biography

Benjamin Franklin "Frank" McPherson was one of five children born to John Howell and Julia Ann Matilda Smith McPherson. He married (1) Florence Caroline Lyle 11 June 1916 in Carrollton, Carroll, GA. Florence was one of three children born to Enoch Silas and Sallie Z. Powledge Lyle. Frank and Florence had two daughters, Sara Nell McPherson and Mary Ann McPherson. Sometime in the mid 1940s Frank and Florence divorced and Frank went on the road. He settled in Clovis, NM for a time before moving on to Texas. In Carthage, TX he met and married (2) Mariah Pearl Pitts (date unknown). Frank died there in 1971 and Pearl died in 1976. Both are buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Carthage, Panola, Texas.

Benjamin Franklin "Frank" McPherson age 88 of 1112 W. Sabine St. Carthage, Texas died Wednesday November 8, 1971 at Panola General Hospital. He was born May 9, 1883 in Carroll Co. GA, son of John Howell McPherson and Julia Ann Matilda Smith. He was a retired merchant, a Baptist and a Mason - F&AM. Service performed at Hawthorne Funeral Chapel by Rev. Loyd Roper on Tuesday November 9, 1971 at 8:00 pm.
