Joseph was the youngest of seven children born to Arthur Rose Guerard and Madeleine Di Marcarellos. He married Hazel W. Lewis (1909-1991) and they had four children, Robert Lewis, Douglas Alan, Hazel W, and Joseph. He worked as an engineer for the telephone company in New Jersey. His ashes were spread in the Gulf off of Florida, the same as his wife.
