W. Marshall Kay, 58, of 7 Draper Street, Brandon, died yesterday morning at 8:30 o'clock in a local hospital, following a sudden illness.
Born and reared near Williamston, he was a son of Mrs. Lelia W. Kay and the late W. S. Kay. For a few years he lived at Townville, but for the past 18 years had been a resident of the Brandon community. He was employed at Brandon Mill as gate watchman.
Mr. Kay was a member of Brandon Baptist Church and the Men's Bible Class.
His wife, Mrs. Agnes Madden Kay, survives with two daughters, Mrs. Charles Masters and Miss Betty Kay, Greenville; five sons, W. M. Kay, Jr., Andrew, Foster and Bobbie Kay, Greenville, and Ralph Kay of Ware Shoals, and eight grandchildren.
Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Lelia W. Kay, Townville; one sister, Mrs. Clayton Teasley, Hartwell, Georgia; eight brothers, Cliff Kay, Townville; Floyd and Roy Kay, Hartwell, Georgia; C. W. Kay, Royston, Georgia; Cecil Kay, Williamston; Ed Kay, Dewey Rose, Georgia; Harrison Kay, Homer, Georgia; and Henry Kay, of Anderson.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at Brandon Baptist Church by the Rev. Boyd A. Turner and the Rev. James R. Bruce. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
The body will be at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home until 3 p.m. Thursday when it will be carried to the home.
