Malford served as a Private First Class, Headquarters Battery, 13th Field Artillery Battalion, 24th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
He resided in Aroostook County, Maine prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Maine National Guard on February 24, 1941, prior to the war, in Caribou, Maine. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Semiskilled mechanic and also as Single, without dependents.
Malford was "Killed In Action" near Davao City, Mindanao, Philippines during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was originally interred in the USAF Cemetery, Leyte No. 1 and was later repatriated here on September 21, 1948.
