Helen Elsie Voerth, 100, born in Justus, Scott Twp. Lackawanna, PA., daughter of Burdic A. and Lillie Tripp Miller, died at home on December 16, 2015. She attended The Oral School For The Deaf in Dunmore, PA, living in Chinchilla and Newtown, PA. Married to Paul A. Kerins, she resided in Trenton, Mercer County, NJ where from 1942 to 1963, she was a Home maker and worked at DeLaval Steam Turbine, Stengels Pottery, and many other factories, was a door to door sales lady, and worked for Steinert High School before moving to Ocean County, NJ in 1963, where she was a child care worker for many years. She was a member of The Trenton Deaf Club and the Ocean County Deaf Citizens Club where she received an award for her services to the deaf. She was a volunteer at The Lighthouse in Toms River (teaching sign language to medical personnel) and The Lighthouse in Whiting (teaching senior citizens sign language). She interpreted for the deaf throughout her life as a friend to many.
She was predeceased by husband Robert Voerth, brothers Theodore, Charles and Burdic Miller, sisters Eva Antoine, Frances White, Marion Teschner, Lillian Miller, Valeida Weaver, and daughter Annemarie Vogler of South Toms River. Surviving are sister Lila Henderson, Mississippi, daughters Sandra Brelsford of Bayville and Darlene Pierce and son inlaw Dale with whom she resided in S. Toms River. She leaves grandchildren Jackie Newbon (John), Joseph Brelsford, Jodi Feist (Rick), Jill Brelsford, Jimmie Brelsford, Cheri Pierce (Ron), Shannon Pierce (Marie), Staci Fox (Johnny) Josh Brelsford, and Larry Vogler, Jr., ( Amber), 18 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Mastapeter Funeral Home 270 Rt. 9 Bayville, on January 9, 2016, attended by family and friends, who lovingly celebrated with music, picture slides, prayer and sign language for the deaf, her 100 years of life.
On August 6, 2016, on Helen's 101st birthday, burial took place at Miller Family Cemetery, Fairview Rd. Clarks Summit, PA. attended by many family members who lovingly celebrated her new birthday in Heaven with prayers and the hymn, "Amazing Grace" as well as Helen's favorite song, "Jesus Loves Me."
