Was born April 14, 1907, in Lawrence County to Huliet and Litha Ann Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Richard Atchley; her son, Andrew Jackson Atchley; and her daughter, Edna Mae Martin.
Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Harold Atchley of Priceville and Douglas V. Atchley of Weaverville, N.C.; three daughters, Mary Alice Watkins and Bernice Miller, both of Somerville, and Juanita Duffey of Trinity; one sister, Louise White of Decatur; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
