Daniel Kirk was born 9 Feb 1861 in Barrhead, Neilston, Renfrewshire, Scotland, to Andrew and Barbara (McKenzie) Kirk. He immigrated to the United States in 1880 with his mother, brother and two sisters on the ship "Circassia" which arrived into the port of New York 23 August 1880. His father arrived a year earlier. He lived in Harrison, Hudson, New Jersey, where he was a painter. In 1913, he and his wife traveled to Scotland so she could have an operation in Glascow, however she died there in 1917 and he could not return to the U.S. because of WWI. He returned 1 Oct 1919 on the Columbia. He then went to Miami where he lived until his death in 1923.
