Charles Laverne Barber, 81, of Comanche, Okla., died on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Meridian Nursing Home.

Services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 19th in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Methany officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, 5:30 to 7 PM at the funeral home.

Charles was born February 6, 1930 in Hasting, Okla., the son of Fern and Ruby (Proctor) Barber. He graduated from Duncan High School. On August 14, 1965, Charles married Geraldine "Jerry" Franks at Meridian Church of Christ.

He was veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army, a member of Bethesda Church of God and retired from Halliburton Services in 1986 after 38 years of service.

Charles is survived by his wife Jerry of the home, son, Dr. Lynn Barber of Comanche, OK, daughter, Tammy Frances Clary& husband Harold of Duncan, OK, sister, Valda R. Clarke of Henderson, NV; 4 grand children;Kelsey Barber, Zachary Barber, Jeremy Duke , Tammy-Lynne Rodgers & Jim Barteau. 2 great grand children; Elizabeth & Kortney Rodgers.
Two special nephews Alan & Greg Clarke and thier families.

Honorary bearers will be Alton Hutto, Jeremy Duke, Zach Barber, Alan Clarke, Greg Clarke & Alvin Schreiber.
