Born in Waterbury New Haven, CT, and died in Beebe Plain, Stanstead, Quebec, Canada. He married Sarah Davis, daughter of Thomas Davis and his second wife Mary (Ranney) Bush, on 24 Feb 1773 in Westminster, Windham VT. Sarah was born 25 Jul 1751 at Middletown, Middlesex, CT. Seba lived in Lyme, CT, Windsor, VT, and Piermont, NH (c. 1778). In 1797 he moved to Beebe Plain on the Vermont/Quebec border, arriving there via an ox-team. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, and his name appears on the pension rolls in Canada in 1831 for services rendered in the Vermont militia.

Seba was convicted of two counts of counterfeiting Spanish milled dollars by the Vermont State Supreme Court on February 8, 1795 at a session held in Woodstock (Windsor County), Vermont. The crime had occurred in Strafford VT on May 7, 1794 where he paid two men each a counterfeit Spanish dollar coin. He was also charged with counterfeiting 100 of the coins in base metal. Found guilty, Seba's harsh sentence was carried out on February 28, 1795. As punishment, his right ear was cut off, and his forehead was branded with the letter "C" with a branding iron. He failed to pay the fine of five pounds, and was placed in the Newbury Jail in Orange County VT on March 1, 1795. Source: "The Vermont Spirit" by Walter E. Perkins, 1916, pp. 49, 50.

His parents moved from Lyme, to Waterbury CT in 1745. Seba's brothers Jonathan (b. 1745), David (b. 1747), Silas (b. 1750), and Reuben (b. 1751) were also born there. Family records give a birth date of April 6, 1749 in Waterbury CT.
