WHITE -- Vernon S. Enevoldsen, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, in a Sioux Falls hospital.
Funeral services were this morning (Feb. 17) in the Morningside Community Church at Brookings with burial in the United Cemetery near Badger.
The Eidsness Funeral Home of Brookings was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Enevoldsen was born Jan. 24, 1909, at Badger and was educated in the Badger, Bruce and Brookings area schools.
He married Minn Smidt Aug. 4, 1934, in Parker. The couple lived in Brookings, Arlington, Hot Springs, Burke, Pickstown, Spearfish and Custer. The majority of his career was with the S.D. Department of Game, Fish and Parks.
Mr. Engevoldsen was involved in the early development of many state recreation areas and roadside parks in South Dakota and was a district park supervisor at Oakwood Lakes State Park. He retired in 1974 and the couple moved to White in 1976.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Myron of Brookings; a daughter, Myrna Holleman of Ham Lake, Minn.; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Cunningham of Brookings and Rozella Cunningham of Camas Valley, Ore.
