Karla Lea Abramson, 52, Angora, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at home on Thursday, March 28, 2013. She was born on March 6, 1961 in Virginia, the daughter of Forrest and Carol (Kyllonen) Abramson.

She grew up in Orr, graduating from Orr High School as Valedictorian of her class in 1979. Karla furthered her education graduating with honors from Michigan Tech, where she completed its nursing program, becoming a registered nurse. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Cook Hospital for several years. Since the early 1990's she has resided in Angora. Karla was employed with the family owned Abramson Construction, then bought the business with her brothers (Kerry, Gary and Mark) to form KGM Contractors, where she currently served as Chief Executive Officer.

She was an active 25 year member of the AGC (Associated General Contractors in Minnesota). Karla was a tremendous asset to the firm and with her direction the company earned numerous awards from MNDot, the insurance industry, and for a partnership program from the US Army Corps of Engineers. In leisure time, Karla loved vacationing in warmer weather and spending time on the beach. She enjoyed hunting – especially deer and pheasant, liked her flower and vegetable gardens and treasured the times camping with Scott. Her great joy in life was the time spent with her girls. She loved her "boys", her dogs, Dewey and Louie. Her family fondly recalls her as being an amazing woman along with having a "big heart" and a concern for everybody.

Karla is survived by her daughters: Kerrisa (Joel) Anderson and Kaylee Malmstrom; step-son Ben Jandrey; parents Forrest and Carol Abramson; significant other Scott Jandrey; brothers: Gary (Ginger Hooper) Abramson, Mark Abramson and Kerry (Laura Roivanen) Abramson; sister Michelle (Victor) Gunderson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
