Allan Alvin Anderson, 93, of Rockford, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, in Danville. Born Sept. 5, 1914, in Rockford, the son of J. Alfred and Ingrid (Erlandson) Anderson. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, fighting on the front line for eight months. He married Violet M. Peterson on May 23, 1942, in Trinity Lutheran Church; she died in March 2005. Allan owned and operated Anderson's Swedish Bakery on Broadway and Sixth, from 1947 to 1974. He was an active volunteer, serving on the board of the Swedish Historical Society and Swedish Cultural Society. He was also a member of the Masons Loves Park Lodge 1145, Tebala Temple, AAONMS of Rockford, Harlemites and Crusadery Commandery H 17 KT.

He is survived by son, Curtis A. (Claudia) Anderson of Danville; granddaughters, Breda, Celia and Keira Anderson; sister, Alice (Bert) Schon of Rockford; nieces and nephews, Tom and Randy Schon, Michael and David Anderson and Pat Cooper. Also predeceased by sister, Svea Madsen; brothers, Ivan and Harry Anderson; and niece, Kay Cooper.

Service at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., with visitation from 12 to 12:45 p.m.; the Rev. Chuck Olson will officiate.
