Charles Clay Browning was the son of Charles H. Browning and Arrena Miller Browning Lamb. His father died when he was a small boy. He and his mother and brother, Talmage T. Browning, moved to Viola Center, Iowa where his mother taught school, they lived near his mothers sister and brother in law, John C. Bonwell and Mary Miller Bonwell and a uncle Isaiah and Helen Miller. When grown Charles attended Drake University Law School in Des Moines, and admitted to the bar in 1905. having practiced Law in Coon Rapids for many years. He just moved to Kansas a year ago because of health and lived with his son, Charles. Charles also belonged to the Masonic Order and Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. He was married to Molly Taylor in 1908. They had one son Charles in 1916.
