Had a sporting goods and bicycle store with his brother Otto Barg. Later he had his own store at 9008 3rd Ave in Brooklyn. His son William Louis Barg inherited the store in 1938. Wm. Louis moved the store to 9127 3rd Ave.

Before getting into the sporting goods business, he was a crew member on at least three ships on four voyages to and from Panama, Chile, Argentina, and Cuba. In most cases he was the only, or one of the only, American crew members.

He married Lillian Jenecke, probably soon after his voyage from Cuba in 1919. They had two children:

William Louis Barg 1920-1980
Barbara Barg 1939-1980

Barbara married James Alison Nugent. I don't know where Barbara [Barg] Nugent is interred.

In 1925, Leo had to appear in court to prove he was the owner of a poodle that he had lost more than a year earlier. Here is the Brooklyn Daily Eagle story about the case.

Leo Barg's cause of death was a heart attack. He died at his home on 3rd Ave in Bay Ridge.

Note: There are no memorial markers for Leo or his wife Lillian in the Urn Garden. Nor are there any for Barg family members in two plots. Seven Barg family members are in this plot:

Amelia Catharine Barg - 1892-1893
Christian Ludewig "Louis" Barg - 1841-1893
Louis Ferdinand Barg - 1878-1952
Maria Caroline "Mary" [Schmidt] Barg - 1855-1916
Mildred Barg - 1906-1930
William Heinrich Barg - 1846-1915
William Conrad Mohrmann - 1899-1899

Two other Barg family members are in another Barg plot:

Carl Dietrich "Charlie" Barg - 1861-1922
Helen Heath "Nellie" [Barg] Muench - 1890-1936
