Fred W Brown, 90, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of New Wells, passed away, Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape. He was born Aug. 2, 1923, near New Wells, Mo., to Edward and Mary Stanley Brown. Fred farmed near New Wells his entire life, farming, livestock and row cropping. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran church in New Wells, and was a former Church elder. he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and moved to Cape Girardeau in 1987 after retiring from farming. Loving survivors include a step-son, David (Janie) Meyr of Cape Girardeau, a granddaughter, Tracy Meyr of St. Louis, a grandson, Chad (Mallory) Meyr of Jackson, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend, Betty Heuring of Cape Girardeau. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. Friends may call Sat. June 14, 2014 from 9:30 am. to service time at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral service is Saturday, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lawrence Badt officiating. Interment will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in New Wells. Memorial may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Cemetery.
