Services were Sept 18, 1997, at the United Methodist Church, Lake Park, for Florence Arnold. She passed away Saturday, Sept 13 at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital of a heart attack.

The Clergyman was Rev. Chris Ebbers. "In the Beauty of Your Holiness" was sang by a trio including Shelly Heikens, Stacy Ahrenstorff and Ann Ditsworth. "On Eagles Wings" was sang by her grandchildren and "The Lord's Prayer" was by her grandsons. The congregation sang "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" and "How Great Thou Art," with Judy Taber, organist.

Pallbearers were Ryan and Vance Krebs, Lance and Jason Heikens, Lane and Gregg Gunderson, Steward and Craig Krummen. Honorary bearers were Scott Krebs, Linden Heikens, Todd Gunderson, Grant Gunderson and Royce Krummen.

Florence B Arnold was born at the family farm home near Hornick on April 13, 1903, the daughter of Frank and Maude (Hawkins) Burns. She graduated from Holly Springs Consolidated High School in 1921, then attended Morningside College in Sioux City where she graduated from the public school music teachers course.

She taught vocal music in the Sloan grade and high school before coming to Lake Park to be the grade and high school vocal music teacher for seven years. She was a private piano teacher and church organist in Lake Park for over 50 years.

On June 26, 1934 she was married to Clayton E Arnold of Lake Park.

She was an active community volunteer as a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Silver Lake Cemetery Society, Senior Citizens, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a 60 year member of the Federated Women's Club. Mrs Arnold served in other leadership capacities in the community which included serving on the Lake Park Board for ten years.

Survivors include: four daughters, Mrs June Krebs, Fullerton, CA, Jane and her husband, Stan Heikens, Jeanine and her husband, Bob Gunderson, and Jennifer and her husband, Steven Krummen, all of Lake Park; 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Mrs Arnold was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton, in December, 1981, son Clayton Eugene, son-in-law Donald Krebs, her parents, two brothers and a sister.

Interment was at Silver Lake Cemetery, Lake Park. Turner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
